Why do American media outlets stop reporting on mass shootings?

American Media Inc is following up on its December 2018 report of a school shooting and investigating Cruz’s prior access to firearms, which American Media outlined in the first edition of this series.

On 7 February 2018, Nikolas Cruz, a 19-year-old student who was described as mentally unstable, walked into a Florida high school with a semi-automatic AR-15 style rifle and killed 17 people.

He was eventually charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder, and faces the death penalty.

Editor in Chief Charles Gasparino believes the American media ignored Cruz from the start, but has been forced to revisit it after the Waukesha tragedy.

In a statement that AMI released to BackPage, Gasparino said:

“Cruz was not an exception.

He did not break the law, he was a good student and he had no criminal record. A search for Nikolas Cruz on gun free zones came up 696 times. No ads were taken down as of today. The trigger was the Waukesha tragedy that unfolded last month.

We want to address the systemic problem of the information blackout.

The initial media misreporting originated with Mother Jones, whose story stated Nikolas Cruz had been banned from Instagram.

We have known for months that Instagram was not posting anything about this.

In the wake of the massacre, I filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with law enforcement, asking for all information related to Nikolas Cruz, and I’m still waiting for a response.

Further, I checked with the Michigan State Police, where I had applied a year ago to get a law enforcement social media search to see if they had ever removed or taken legal action against Nikolas Cruz. This request was denied twice in the past year.

It’s a willful blindness that I can’t ignore.

From our federal government’s help, it’s a federal government that allowed this and it’s a federal government that continues to look the other way.

Criminals and mentally unstable people can buy guns legally, and they can do it in bulk.

The radical Leftists that run this place have a history of deceiving government, bending rules, deceiving the public and deliberately trying to make laws not to prevent lawbreakers, but instead to make our lives harder.

I cannot ignore what happened at a Mississippi middle school and what happened in Waukesha, Wisconsin last month. It’s completely preventable.

So, I’ve reached out to the FBI to look into this. But there is little indication that the FBI is taking any action whatsoever.

I’ve also personally asked every law enforcement agency I know of in this country to look into all the Nikolas Cruz cases. So far, no one has responded to me.
