Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue on Monday announced a slate of senior nominations to join his administration, including Shalanda Young, a partner at the firm of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.
A presidentially appointed budget director, Young would run budgeting in the White House. White House budget director Tom Price resigned from the position on Monday.
Young has worked on CETA, a trade agreement negotiated by the United States and other European countries. She also led the negotiations on the America Competes Act and crafted several trade and investment policies for Export-Import Bank.
Young is one of former Vice President Joe Biden’s appointees to the President’s Management Advisory Board. She also worked on trade during the Obama administration.
